XIDED 00.02.00 Released

Category xided
XIDED 00.02.00 is now available for download. If you've already downloaded the first beta, please re-download the new version... due to an unforeseen complication, the AutoUpdate feature was not functioning correctly. Going forward, this should no longer be an issue.

What's new in this release?
  • XIDED now supports Database Script and Shared Actions.
  • Product registration and upgrading to new releases can now be performed from within the Notes client. Because true cross-domain AJAX is not allowed (although rumor has it dojo now includes a workaround), both of these actions, when performed from a browser, rely on proxied AJAX requests... in other words, the server must have access to the Internet (i.e. the firewall must allow outgoing traffic over port 80). In many cases this is not a viable option, so upgrading and registering have been added to the Welcome page in the Notes interface of the application.
  • Much of the Javascript has been refactored to take advantage of Dean Edwards' Base class. This allows for cleaner handling of object inheritance and method overriding, so, in comparison to version 0.1, XIDED now does more... faster... with slightly less code.
What's on the slate for 0.3?
  • Views, Folders, and Shared Columns. This is a change to the previous schedule, but at the moment these just seem like the next logical grouping.
  • Lowering the page-weight. It's currently about 400 KB, most of which is due to the inclusion of yui-ext. XIDED.js is only 11 KB, but that's because it's compressed... which requires that the syntax be precise (no one-line if statements, no missing semicolons, and so on). I'm in the process of Linting yui-ext.js to allow it to compress correctly, but it's over 13,000 lines of code... if this is done before the new design element categories are ready, I'll put out a 0.2.1 release.
