Not enough security... bad.
Too much security... bad.

Gravatar Image2 - Tee hee... nah, I was troubleshooting a problem that at first glance appeared to be a firewall issue but turned out to be something else entirely. But the discussion of all the various elements in the equation of what gets through and what doesn't (i.e. source port / address, destination port / address, executable initiating the request, executable bound to the destination port, etc.) reminded me of an incident a couple years ago where a firewall had been locked down so tightly out of fear of hackers that people couldn't do their jobs any more. At least, not effectively. The above is the analogy I spouted at the time, and thought it might amuse a few readers. Emoticon
