Top 5

At Nathan's behest, here are my top 5 album openers:
World in My Eyes - Depeche Mode's Violator
Best I Can - Queensryche's Empire
Stinkfist - Tool's Aenima
Feeling Good - Michael Buble's It's Time
Novocaine for the Soul - Eels' Beautiful Freak
Originally, I had them in a different order... until I realized that two of them are truly bookend albums: Empire closes with "Anybody Listening?", Violator closes with "Clean". So those two get bonus points for having a corresponding YAWP waiting at the other end.
And, because it was a struggle to narrow it down to 5, here in alphabetical order by track are some Honorable Mentions:
Chocolate Cake - Crowded House's Woodface
Diane - Guster's Keep it Together
The District Sleeps Alone Tonight - Postal Service's Give Up
Leaving New York - REM's Around the Sun
Megalomaniac - Incubus' Crow Left of the Murder
Pull Me Under - Dream Theater's Images and Words
She - Harry Connick, Jr.'s She
Why Ya Wanna Do Me? - Cowboy Mouth's Mercyland
(it's not what you think)
Keep the dial on this frequency... got a fun little SnTT planned for this evening. Assuming I can pack quickly for tomorrow's flight to Denver... if not, I'm sure Nathan will post a demo while I'm off the grid.

Just like my old buddy Tom Bodet - We'll leave the lights on. See you tomorrow.

Hey, remember that one day in Honolulu? For everyone else in the audience, we were walking down the street one afternoon in June of '92 when it started raining. Like good Coloradans, we darted for the nearest shelter - which happened to be a McDonald's - only to look out the window and see that everyone else was still calmly strolling along as if it weren't really precipitating. So we headed back outside to find that the reason nobody cared was that the rain was warm. Yet still oddly refreshing. I liked that. Warm summer rain. Ah, memories.
