I know I'm rather late on this particular meme, but back when posts like this were all the rage, my setup was rather boring. But I thought you might find my current desktop environs amusing:

On the right is a Thinkpad X61 tablet. With 3 GB of RAM, this is now my primary development machine. In the middle are a 22" widescreen LCD monitor, my EEE (running Domino 8.5PB2 on an SD card, since the internal hard drive is too small to bother with) and my iPod docked in an iCube so that, on days like today where both my roommates are elsewhere, I can jam to Libera without headphones. And off to the left is my poor old Inspiron. He's seen better days, but still has enough life left in him to run Notes 8.5PB2 and - more importantly - DDE. Oh, and the doll is Timmy from South Park, a gift from a coworker, maybe 4 or 5 years ago. If you squeeze his left hand, he spouts random nonsense, so an apt gift, no?
Tying most of this setup together is an app I recently discovered called Synergy. It's basically a software-based KVM, and has a rather clever way of switching between devices: in my case, the X61 is my primary machine, so I've got extended desktop set up to allow me to move my mouse off the left side of the notebook screen and onto the 22"... but if I keeep going to the left of that screen, now the mouse is on the EEE. As long as it's there, the X61 keyboard controls the EEE... which is handy since I no longer have the hands of an 8-year-old. If I move even further to the left, then I'm controlling the Inspiron. And the really convenient bit is that the clipboard transfers across all of them, so I can copy something on the Inspiron and then, with a flick of the wrist, I'm back on the X61 pasting that text into something else. Fun.

That helped me figure out how to configure it to use all three of my laptops from one. One item in particular that was initially confusing was that you have to define the screen that you're currently on in addition to any other screens you'll be controlling.
